Woodside's Angel Project |
Powertech provided commissioning services on the Angel project. Our team helped support the commissioning of the Topside facility whilst under construction in Malaysia and offshore on Angel in the North West Shelf for the hook-up and commissioning. Angel will be the third major natural gas offshore production platform off the North West Shelf. The infrastructure includes a 50 km pipeline which ties into the existing pipeline which links the North West Shelf assets to the Karratha Gas Plant, along with a 50 km 22kV sub-sea cable which ties North Rankin A to Angel. The development of the North West Shelf Venture's $1.6 billion Angel gas and condensate field off the north west of Western Australia started in Q4 2005. It will boost Woodside’s ability to maintain critical gas and condensate supplies to their customers. The remotely operated Angel processing platform stands in 80 metres of water about 50 km east of the Venture's existing North Rankin production facility. The Hydrocarbons are processed on board through a single processing unit with a capacity of up to 800 million standard cubic feet of gas per day and up to 50,000 barrels of condensate a day. As well as providing I/E techs for loop and instrument commissioning, Powertech provided specialist technicians to commission the GE L90 differential end-to-end protection testing for the HV umbilical supply cable from NRA to Angel and conducted Sweep Frequency Response Angle (SFRA) and Dielectric Loss Angle (DLA) tests on the power transformers on NRA and Angel. The actual hook up and commissioning of the sub-sea cable was co-ordinated and implemented by a Powertech Lead Electrical Engineer on Angel and a Powertech Lead Electrical Engineer on Rankin who was embedded in Woodside’s Brownfield commissioning team. |
