Completions Connect

A new approach – Completions Connect

Securing the value at risk is becoming increasingly difficult in large scale capital programs.  Risks are continuing to increase in key project areas resulting from issues such as reduced availability of specialist resources, increased use of 3rd party contractors, increased environmental compliance, increased regulatory and community scrutiny and overall increased cost of supply.

Critically, it is becoming more complex for project owners and key stakeholders to ensure the accountability of 3rd parties they contract and gain visibility of progress through the critical Completions stage.

To address this challenge Powertech now brings to the market a new type of Completions Management System (CMS) called Completions Connect.

“The typical approach to Completions is just so basic it’s easy to understand why so many projects fail to deliver against the most fundamental of success criteria – to bring the asset to a reliable steady state of operation at, or better than, the original  design intent and within an acceptable time frame.  What the prevailing CMS technologies ignore is that every project is different, it’s not one-size fits all…it’s one size fits one. This is why we developed a new type of CMS, Completions Connect.  It’s not about connecting people into a project, it’s about connecting people into their project.”

Brian Grimmer, MD Powertech

A next generation approach

Every project is unique.

The people involved, the language used, the policies applied, the plans established, the processes followed, the systems constructed – are combined to create a project that is being built for the first time.

Historically Completions Management Systems (CMS) have been simple databases that comprise a range of tests required to be completed to ensure that projects have constructed to meet the design requirements of the asset owners.

As technology advances so does project complexity and size.  There is a greater requirement for systematic control of problem identification and resolution.  There is also an increasing requirement to establish a collaborative CMS environment that will provide the completions management team with accurate visibility of actual project progress so that timely decisions can be based on fact.

This requirement for a system that connects project teams to their project in a way that promotes accountability and visibility is the principle driver for the development of Completions Connect.

Completions Connect is already being used on large, multi-party, complex projects.  We have proven our ability to rapidly configure and publish Completions Connect systems tailored to the project at hand and to provide accurate, ongoing visibility on project progress.

This evolution of CMS is reflected in the following diagram:
