| 01-06-2010: | Safety Climate Index 5 - Factor Survey |
||||||||||||
The purpose of the survey is to ‘close the loop’ with our people about their perceptions of how importantly Powertech views their safety and wellbeing. The survey asks a number of questions about five primary areas, as shown in the table:
In addition there are custom questions that can be requested by survey customers and tailored by Blue Provident. These draw out attitudes about other aspects of safety attitude.
There is a strong body of research that has established a clear link between an employee’s perception of being cared for by their employer, and that employee’s safety behaviour. We view this as being of crucial importance as we want our employees to behave safely at all times.
Based on the above research, the SCI5 survey came into being following collaboration between IFAP (the Industrial Foundation for Accident Prevention) and the Managing Director of Blue Provident, in 1998. During its development phase the process had input from leading safety professionals and the survey methodology was subject to rigorous academic scrutiny.
The survey is anonymous and is conducted on line, provided respondents have access to e-mail. The survey can be administered by hard copy where e-mail access is not available. All responses go direct to Blue Provident for analysis.
Blue Provident provides us with a report which includes analysis in the form of a bubble chart and graphs. See a copy of the bubble chart attached for the latest survey.
Results for each of the five factors are depicted as a bubble. The further to the right the bubble, the stronger the safety climate index value. The further up the chart the bubble is, (and the smaller it is), the more consistent is the result for that parameter.
Powertech’s employees have consistently registered the highest results in terms of safety climate index value of any group surveyed by Blue Provident. This appears to reflect in our safety statistics.
Blue Provident has quoted us to other companies as a benchmark. |
