Brian Grimmer

Chairman

Brian joined Powertech in the role of Managing Director in early 2002. Brian oversaw the evolution and growth of Powertech nationally and internationally until the successful succession of Paul Carmignani as MD in 2014.

Brian’s main focus as Chairman is the continued adherence to our core values and resilience and innovation strategies going forward.

Paul Carmignani

Managing Director

Paul joined Powertech as CFO in 2008 and was appointed Managing Director in December 2014. With more than 25 years’ experience in engineering services companies, Paul has provided total systems leadership to public and private companies across multiple sectors. His strong background as a finance professional, has provided leadership and governance at the board level and across all aspects of the operational business.

Paul is a CPA and Member of AICD.

Peter Midgley

Director

Peter joined Powertech in 2008. Prior to this, he spent 25 years in mergers & acquisitions with a focus on significantly transforming the performance of those assets, usually leading to subsequent sales of the companies for orders of magnitude of initial purchase costs. He has held Director roles in multi-billion dollar companies in a range of sectors and geographical regions worldwide.

His focus is on the transformational architecture for Powertech to achieve stellar performance and evolving its portfolio of offerings to customers. He is a CPEng and GAICD.

Kaine Weighell

Director / General Manager Western Region

Kaine joined Powertech in 2003. With a comprehensive technical background, Kaine was able to quickly move into the roles of Senior Technician, Site Technical Lead and Commissioning Engineer across multiple sites. His strong technical, management and leadership strengths were then applied while leading the Technical Services team for many years. More recently in 2018, Kaine stepped into the role of General Manager for the Western Region Operations leading the team successfully to deliver technical and innovative solutions to our clients across all sectors.

Kaine has a number of Management Diplomas and is a member of AICD.

Steve Edwardes

Director / General Manager Eastern Region

Steve joined Powertech in Perth in 2013 before relocating to Brisbane as the General Manager for the Eastern Region. With more than 25 years’ experience in senior management roles in electrical engineering, construction and commissioning, Steve has utilised his broad experience to support growth and diversification strategies to effectively expand Powertech offerings across sectors and regions. More recently that has included sustaining Powertech’s position as the industry leader in High Voltage Operations and Maintenance Services and further expansion of Powertech’s EPC capabilities in the Power and Energy Sectors. With a passion for Innovation within the Renewable Energy Sector, Steve leads R&D projects focused on offering clients unique and customised solutions.

Steve has a number of Business and Management Diplomas and is a member of AICD.

Russell Growden

Director / General Manager Asia & Business Development

Russell started with Powertech August 2001 as a Senior Electrical Technician specialising in power generation and protection. Russell then moved to Technical Services manager in Perth managing our High Voltage Services team across Australia. After seeing demand for our services increase across Australia he moved to QLD in 2007 to establish our Brisbane office and grow our eastern states business units. In 2014 Russell then moved to Singapore to face a new challenge of opening our Asian regional head office. With a large network built across various regions Russell now looks after our Business Development and still operates as Regional Manager for Asia.

Russell is a member of AICD.

Andrea Harris FCPA

Chief Financial Officer

Andrea joined Powertech in 2014 with a wealth of experience in Corporate Services and Finance, previously having lead teams within mid to large-scale organisations across various industries.  She is pivotal in steering the company through the complexities of financial management and operational efficiencies via a strong commitment to financial stewardship. 

Andrea was advanced to FCPA status with CPA Australia in May 2024 as recognition of her knowledge, integrity and commitment to maintaining a high level of professional ethics and standards.

Tim Clifford

General Manager Services East, Powertech

With over 14 years at Powertech, Tim Clifford has been instrumental in delivering high-quality services across Mining, Oil & Gas, and Utilities sectors. As General Manager Services East, he leads a dynamic team focused on providing expert solutions for major Operations and Maintenance LTSA’s and greenfield Commissioning projects.

Tim's extensive experience spans project management, business development, stakeholder engagement, and account management. His leadership ensures that Powertech remains a trusted partner for clients, driving operational excellence and strategic growth.

Having started as a High Voltage Electrical Technician, Tim’s deep technical knowledge and hands-on experience make him a key contributor to Powertech’s continued success.

Joe Simpson

General Manager EPC - Eastern Region

Joe joined Powertech in January 2023 as a Project Manager, bringing with him a wealth of expertise as both a qualified Electrician and Electrical Engineer. With his strong technical foundation and proven leadership capabilities, Joe quickly advanced within the organisation. His extensive experience spans design, project management, and on-site execution, enabling him to deliver exceptional results across complex projects.

In his current role as General Manager for the EPC - Eastern Region, Joe leads a dynamic team focused on delivering innovative and efficient engineering solutions for clients. His commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction has been instrumental in driving Powertech's growth in the Eastern Region. Through his leadership, Joe continues to ensure that Powertech remains at the forefront of the EPC industry, delivering outstanding value and building lasting partnerships.

Mark Quinlan

National General Manager – EPC Business and Product Development

Mark joined Powertech in 2018, bringing with him deep technical expertise in high voltage systems, commissioning, and project delivery across the energy, infrastructure, and renewables sectors. With a hands-on foundation as a Senior HV Technician and Test Manager, Mark progressed quickly through leadership roles including Project Lead, Project Manager, and ultimately General Manager of Powertech’s EPC and Product Development division.

In his current role, Mark oversees national operations for Powertech’s EPC BD and Edapta product range, driving strategic growth and execution of complex turnkey solutions. Known for his structured delivery approach, strong stakeholder engagement, and commitment to technical excellence, Mark leads cross-functional teams to deliver innovative and compliant energy systems tailored to client needs.

Mark holds an Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Renewables), a Certificate IV in Electrical Instrumentation, and is a licensed electrician in Queensland, NSW and Victoria. He is also a Clean Energy Council (CEC) Accredited Designer and Installer for both PV and SAPS systems.

Byron Thomas

General Manager Services West, Powertech

Byron joined Powertech in 2012, bringing a strong technical foundation in electrical power engineering. His expertise propelled him into key roles, including Electrical lead and Technical Services Manager for the Western Region. Byron has successfully led technical teams to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions. He advanced to the role of General Manager – Western Region Operations, where he now oversees Technical Services, resourcing, equipment, and calibration value streams for Powertech. His leadership drives regional growth strategies, technical excellence, and operational improvements, ensuring Powertech remains at the forefront of industry advancements.

Byron holds a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Power Engineering and a Master of Engineering Management, reinforcing both his technical expertise and managerial acumen. His qualifications, combined with extensive industry experience, position him as a key leader in delivering innovative and strategic solutions.

Mark Rieger

General Manager, EPC

Mark Rieger is an accomplished project leader with extensive experience in EPC project delivery across the power and industrial sectors. With a strong background in electrical and mechanical systems, Mark brings deep technical expertise and a hands-on approach to managing complex projects from concept through to commissioning. His career spans successful project outcomes for major clients including mining operations, government agencies, and utility providers.

Mark’s capabilities include HV/LV power systems, switchboard construction and commissioning, protection relay testing, and PLC/SCADA integration. He is committed to safety, quality, and delivering results that exceed client expectations. As General Manager of Projects at Powertech, Mark leads with a focus on operational excellence, innovation, and long-term client partnerships.

Lauren Wooldridge

Human Resources Manager

Lauren Wooldridge is a seasoned Human Resources professional with over a decade of experience across a range of industries, including energy, aged care, and not-for-profits. Since joining Powertech in 2022, Lauren has thoughtfully evolved the company’s HR function, including the successful implementation of a new HRIS system and the introduction of an employee reward and recognition program that celebrates contribution and strengthens culture. Her work has supported sustainable growth, employee wellbeing, and a values-driven culture. With a love for learning and a passion for human-centred design, Lauren brings a strategic, consultative approach to leadership. She is driven by creating meaningful employee experiences and fostering a culture where people thrive.

Lauren holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Master of Business (Human Resource Management).

Arman Balin

ICT & Systems Manager

Arman joined Powertech in 2012 as a Systems Analyst and has been instrumental in shaping the company’s digital landscape. He played a key role in the successful rollout of Powertech’s ERP system and continues to provide expert technical support across the organisation. Now as ICT & Systems Manager, Arman leads the delivery of innovative business solutions that streamline operations and enhance efficiency. His deep technical expertise and commitment to continuous improvement ensure Powertech remains agile and future-ready in an evolving technological landscape.

David Ogg

HSEQ Manager

David joined Powertech in 2023, bringing over 25 years of experience in site-based and corporate HSEQ roles across a wide range of sectors, including electrical engineering design, construction, transport and warehousing, chemical processing, and healthcare. A collaborative and solutions-focused professional, David has a strong track record of working closely with leadership teams to design and implement HSEQ systems that support the safe and effective delivery of projects.

He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health, is a RABQSA-certified Lead Auditor in Quality and OHS and holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
